You must provide a phone number, display name, profile photo, birthday, and username when you create a Nepto account. You may optionally add other information to your account, such as a bio, mood status, and website. You can manage your personal information in the Profile section.
When you create a Nepto account, we collect your approximate location. We will never share your precise location with other users.
You may also choose to provide us with your friend’s contact information stored in your phone. Syncing your contacts means that you can directly invite your contacts to your group(s), receive notifications when one of your contacts signs up for the Services, and discover groups that your contacts have joined. We will ask your permission before syncing your contacts. If you do permit us to sync your contacts, we will only sync and store their names and phone numbers. If you sync your contacts and later change your mind and un-sync contacts, we will delete their information from our servers. You can still use the Services without giving us access to your contacts, and you can still invite people to Nepto using group invite links.
You may delete your account at any time in the application by visiting your User Settings or by contacting us at hey@nepto.com. Deleting your account removes all Account Information you have provided in your User Settings (including any information on your synced contacts) in 30 days. We will also remove your display name from any messages you have sent within the Services to de-identify you; however, the messages themselves will remain accessible in the Services by other users. We retain the messages because we want to ensure that conversation histories remain available for users who are continuing to use the Services, even if an individual leaves the conversation. However, as long as your account is active, you can delete any messages that you send individually. We also automatically collect IP addresses when you use the Services for security purposes, but we will not use your IP address to track you or your use of the Services.
When you contact Nepto Support at hey@nepto.com, any personal data you may share with us is kept and used only to research the issue and contact you about your case, and will never be shared with any third party.
We work with certain third-party service providers to provide certain Services but we only send your data to a few of them, as detailed below.
Twilio: **We use Twilio to send a verification code to your phone number when you create a Nepto account and when you attempt to log into your account.
WalletConnect: We use WalletConnect to verify that you are authorized to sign with your wallet when you create a Nepto account and when you attempt to log into your account.
We also work with a few analytics providers to monitor the performance of our application. We de-identify all user information that we pass to these providers so they do not track or store any personal information.
All aforementioned providers are bound by their Privacy Policies to safeguard your information. Over time, we plan to bring several of these services in-house to increase our ability to safeguard your data.
To meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
To enforce applicable Terms, including investigation of potential violations.
To detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.
To protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of Nepto, our users, or the public as required or permitted by law.
To share and/or transfer data in connection with the evaluation of and entry into a transaction. If we (or our assets) are acquired, if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy, or go through some other change of control, personal data could be one of the assets transferred to or acquired by a third party.
The Services are hosted and operated in the United States (“U.S.”) through Oxid and its service providers, and if you do not reside in the U.S., laws in the U.S. may differ from the laws where you reside. By using the Services, you acknowledge that any personal data about you, regardless of whether provided by you or obtained from a third party, is being provided to Oxid in the U.S. and will be hosted on U.S. servers and possibly other countries.
We will take all reasonable precautions to safeguard your data from misuse, unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. We store certain personal data to facilitate critical features of the product including secure SMS-based login. Your personal information is secured and encrypted during transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS). When your data is stored by Nepto, we use computer systems with highly limited access housed in facilities with physical security measures (as provided by Amazon Web Services). Data is stored in encrypted form at rest to further prevent any unauthorized access or abuse.
We may need to share some personal information with third-party providers; as an example, we will share your phone number with Twilio to send you SMS login codes. Whenever we share personal data with third parties, your information is always encrypted in transit using TLS. We only share the minimum amount of information required for these third parties to perform their services. We review each of these third parties to ensure that they are receiving and handling any personal information most securely, consistent with our internal policies.
Access to any personal information is highly restricted in Nepto and only used to debug issues or handle support requests upon a direct request from a user(s). Any access to personal information is reviewed regularly and monitored to ensure no malicious or unwarranted access.
Depending on the laws where you reside, you may have rights concerning access to and correction of the data that we hold. For more information about these rights, or to submit a request, please email hey@nepto.com. In some cases, we may also need you to provide us with additional information, which may include personal data, to verify your identity and the nature of your request.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be illegal, invalid, or unenforceable, then that provision shall be fully severable from these Terms and shall not effect the legality, validity, or enforceability of the remaining provisions of these Terms.
Failure by us to enforce any particular term of these Terms shall not be construed as a waiver of any of our rights hereunder.
These Terms (and each supplemental agreement referenced in or referencing tehse Terms found on the site) constitutes the entire agreement between you and Oxid with repsect to the site and the Services.
If you have any questions or concerns about these Terms or any issues raised win these Terms or on the site, please contact us at hey@nepto.com. We will investigate the complaint and determine whether a breach has occurred and what action, if any, to take.
